Case Study 6 |
|
 |
Location: |
Communications Towers upgrades |
|
Owner: |
US Cellular
Formerly known as
Prime-Co Cellular |
Problem
Demand for cellular communications exceeded capabilities of
existing towers requiring additional antenna equipment to be
installed on existing towers, which in turn would exceed the
design capabilities of the towers to withstand wind loads.
Solution
HGS installed a series of A.B. Chance Helical Anchors®
adjacent to the existing anchoring system of towers; guy wire
systems were transferred to chance anchors thereby increasing
the load bearing capacities of the existing towers. Work
was performed on a series of towers on the Florida Turnpike
originating at Leesburg and extending all the way to the upper
Keys. Tower upgrades were performed within the budget and
time constraints of the projects owners.
