Polyurethane Grouting
i

Naval Station Mayport shield Location: Delta Wharf Improvement - Mayport Naval Air Station
Owner: Department of the Navy
Engineers: Nova/TIC, Joint Venture
General Contractor: Sea Tech Marine International

Problem

During bulkhead improvements, new sheet piling were installed to extend the existing Delta Wharf approximately 200 feet.  During installation the engineers noticed that soil was being lost directly behind old sheet piles, due to the process of piping through leaks at the joints.  Several concrete support structures and steam lines were in danger being damaged due to settlement.

Solution

HGS  in conjunction with The Department of the Navy, Nova/TIC and Sea Tech Marine International, injected Mountain Grout® polyurethane resin directly behind leaking joints, stopping the flow of soil permanently before any damage was done.
