Sinkhole Grouting

Location: Maitland Center Commons, Orlando, FL
Engineers: BTL Engineering services, Inc.
Insurance Company: St. Paul  Fire & Marine Insurance Co.

Problem

A Large sinkhole developed adjacent to Maitland Common's office center threatening to cause massive failure of building foundations and structure.

Solution

HGS pumped 360 cubic yards low to medium slump compaction grout though a series of 16 vertical and angled injection points placed from 41 to 72 feet deep.  Following remediation of a the sinkhole by compaction grouting, 16 A. B. Chance Helical Piers® were placed adjacent to affected area of building and remaining settlement was removed by a series of hydraulic jacks attached to lifting brackets on the helical piers.
